Annual Easter Fair in Krakow

Easter - one of the most traditional Polish holidays is coming soon – on 31st March! All those who visit the city of Krakow this week will have a chance to see (and try) what things Polish people need and prepare to celebrate it. The annual Easter Fair is taking place in the Main Market Square.

The visitors can stroll among the wooden stalls to see the wide range of traditional Easter decorations, lambs, bunnies and hand-painted Easter eggs. Painted eggs – called “pisanki” in Polish are essential part of Easter. On Holy Saturday families prepare baskets with pisanki and some kinds of food and bring it to the church to be blessed. In the Market Square you can also try Easter specialties - fragrant meats, fiery horseradish prepared according to ancient recipes, and towering yeast cakes, Mazurka cakes, marzipans and many other festive delicacies.
